Lynette Shen

Lynette (Qiuyang 秋阳) Shen comes from Shanghai, China. Before beginning her doctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania, Lynette received a BA from College of William & Mary in Philosophy and Psychology and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her research pays attention to alternative monuments, trauma and historical memories, and diasporic experience in Contemporary East Asian art. Along with the development of her academic career, she has been working as an independent curator and writer and has maintained an artistic practice in photography and video.
