Welcome to the graduate pages of our website. Here you will find information about admission to the M.A. and Ph.D. programs, the typical cursus of study, degree requirements, and special fields of study. A more complete overview of the program is provided in the Graduate Bulletin (a detailed description of graduate study in the History of Art Department). Elsewhere on this site you will find other information about the graduate program – lists of the current faculty and students, lists of courses in current and past semesters, and resources for graduate students looking for funding sources or fellowship.
At the University of Pennsylvania, graduate study is directed by "graduate groups," under the supervision of the Associate Dean of the Graduate Division of the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS). The Graduate Group in the History of Art includes all the members of the Department of the History of Art, plus art historians from other departments in the University and from other Philadelphia institutions. (You can find a current list here.) The Graduate Group of the Art & Archaeology of the Mediterranean World, with which the History of Art has close ties, is also housed in the Jaffe Building.
