BA - Bowdoin College
Brooke Wrubel is a second-year MA student with an interest in trecento Sienese visual and material culture. Her current research engages intermedial dialogues between painted objects and their crafted referents as sites of meaning-making. She received a BA in Art History and Italian Studies from Bowdoin College, where her work with the Wyvern Collection informed her object-based approach to research, with an emphasis on both the affordances and global origins of materials. She has served as Exhibition Assistant and Research Associate at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. Publications include object entries “Reliquary with Rock-Crystal Vessel” and “Frankish Animal Head Bow Brooch (Fibula)” in the exhibition catalogue New Views of the Middle Ages: The Wyvern Collection (2020) and a biographical essay and twenty-seven object entries in the online catalogue Antiquity & America: The Ancient Mediterranean in the United States (2022).
