WRITING TEACHING STATEMENTS FOR ACADEMIC JOBS WORKSHOP

via Zoom

Professor Mantha Zarmakoupi and Ian Petrie, a Senior Associate Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, will discuss the content, structure, and goals of teaching statements written for academic jobs. This workshop is aimed at PhD students in our department, at all levels. It is useful to start thinking about your teaching statement early, so all students are warmly invited to attend. Teaching statements are challenging to write, especially at the beginning of one’s teaching career. In preparation for the workshop and for writing your teaching statement, you may want to list specific examples of your teaching experience to date, as well as your future teaching goals. During the workshop we will discuss sample teaching statements. Participants may find it useful to bring a draft of their own teaching statement. While we will not have time to go through everyone's individual examples, having a draft in hand will help make the discussion more relevant.

THIS IS A CLOSED EVENT AND ONLY OPEN TO GRADUATE STUDENTS IN THE HISTORY OF ART DEPARTMENT
