"Julian Abele and Louis Magaziner: The Story of a Penn-made Friendship"

by Amy Cohen
Director of Education, History Making Productions

Julian Abele (1881-1950), the first African American to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Architecture, and Louis Magaziner (1878-1956), the first Jew to graduate from the same school, forged a bond as students that endured for the rest of their lives. Their affection for Penn endured as well. In this illustrated presentation, Magaziner's great-grandniece explores the unusual friendship between these two prominent Philadelphia architects.
